What to do on GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday is a day that was created as a charitable response to the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It always takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving which will be on the 1st of December this year. Now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over, there should be a focus on giving back. Everyone has something to give whether it’s making someone smile, helping your neighbor, showing up for the people we care about or giving back to those in need, every act of kindness and generosity counts.
A small act of kindness can go a long way. It can be a simple text to someone you love and telling them how grateful you are for them or complimenting a stranger. Spreading kindness matters more than we can ever know.
There are many non-profit organizations that are trying to make a difference every day. In honor of GivingTuesday you can start by donating to these non-profit organizations. Otherwise, you can also start a small circle with your friends and family to gather ways to donate for GivingTuesday!
The purpose of GivingTuesday is more than only raising money and donating. It gives us a chance to come together as community to unite and inspire others around the world. You can always start small with your local community for example by hosting community conversations to discuss some local issues.
Using your voice for the right causes can give you the power and passion to transform your community. Even if the matter is small, if we care about it enough we should talk about it to see the kind of change that makes our world a better place. Again, some of the major changes can start from your local community and spread.
In the end, volunteering can also help you develop new personal skills or learn more about the issues that are affecting your community. We should start sharing kindness and generosity to inspire others to give back too.
