Five ways to survive Valentine’s Day as a single lady
Although I am a supporter of treating yourself no matter what – ‘treat yourself’ is my motto – Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity for a healthy dose of me-time. This day was once declared the day of love with an excessive amount of hearts, cheesy teddy bears and Valentine’s cards, but I don’t believe that love should only be for couples. You can treat yourself on Valentine’s Day, just because you want to.
I have listed five ways to easily survive Valentine’s Day as a single lady – and maybe be reborn on the 15th.
1. Spoil yourself and your body
Spoil yourself. Who do you love? Yourself! Fill the bath up with some lovely bubbles, put a face mask on, put on a good series and enjoy a good glass of wine. This is the perfect opportunity to relax, especially if you have been super busy recently. How often do you actually take the time to enjoy a long warm bath or shower? Exactly. Just do it.
2. Hello? Is it me you’re cooking for?’
If you don’t feel like cooking, you can get a takeaway delivered, but another option is taking the time to prepare a meal, even if it’s not with friends. Talking about friends: why not spend Valentine’s Day with some friends? Valentine’s Day is all about sharing love and you can of course do that with your gorgeous friends.
3. Buy yourself a present
If there’s no-one else to buy you one, why don’t you just do it yourself? Like I said, ‘treat yourself’ is my motto and that also applies to buying myself the occasional present. Have you just been promoted or are you just proud of yourself? Then I don’t see any reason to not buy yourself that gorgeous lingerie set or book that city trip.
4. Get cleaning
If you want to get the cleaning spray out or hoover, or organise the folders on your computer, Valentine’s Day is the perfect day for it. Cleaning is not only therapeutic, it also ensures that you can go to sleep in a clean and tidy environment. Clean home = clear mind – a win-win.
5. Just let it be
Finally: just forget about Valentine’s Day because it’s just another Tuesday after all. Even couples aren’t fussed about Valentine’s Day. School and work continue and the world keeps on turning. If you’re like me and have a down-to-earth view of this February day: let it go and Valentine’s Day will be over before you know it.
