Christmas is coming soon and although we might celebrate different this year, there’s still a lot of fun activities to do while you’re at home social distancing. Spending the holidays alone or only with your household compared to all families joining can be bitter-sweet. This year you can start some new Christmas traditions that hopefully soon you can be sharing with your entire family again. Let’s get into all the fun activities you can get into this year. After all, there’s no place like home for the holidays.
Holiday movie day
Snuggle up on the couch with your family and binge some Christmas classics. Get those holiday leftover snacks and enjoy a cosy day in with your family watching Christmas movies. You can be nostalgic and watch a childhood classic like Home Alone and the Polar Express or watch a recent Netflix original like the Christmas Chronicles… There are so many options!
Christmas karaoke
Whether you’re family is musical or not, show off you vocal skills by having a Christmas karaoke edition sing off. Classics such as All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey and Last Christmas by Wham will get your family singing along to classic holiday tunes. Embrace the Christmas spirit!
Winterize your backyard
Usually we focus on decorating the front of the yard that everyone can see, but this year let’s also invest in the backyard. Dazzle it up with Christmas lights and decorations, the perfect combo for a winter backyard. You can have a little camp fire in your backyard and make some s’mores or other delicious Christmas delicacies.
Virtual cookie decorating party
Lastly, host a virtual cookie decorating party with other family members that were not able to join physically. It’s the perfect daytime activity that will also leave your house smelling delicious! Make sure to have some fun and festive cookie cutters, frosting, and cookie décor. At the end you can all enjoy the cookies while still feeling connected (virtually).
These were some fun tips on how you can be celebrating Christmas at home this year. 2020 is almost over and so many things have changed this year, why not make some new Christmas traditions as well that hopefully our whole family can start doing together soon!
