Sports ambassador Gudrun: ”My passion is sports and good food”
Hi! I am Gudrun, a 26-year-old Belgian with a huge passion for sports and good food. For the past 22 months, I have dedicated my daily blog to inspiring and motivating people to lead a fit, healthy, but especially happy life. Through my blog and Instagram, I want to show you that you can be perfectly healthy and fit without being too strict on yourself and that you can really enjoy life during your healthy journey. What did you like most about the HKMX shoot?
It was exciting to experience a real shoot and see how it all comes together. I’d never done this before and was nervous and uncertain before the shoot, but a fantastic team of people quickly put me at ease. Although I walked in all uncertain, not knowing what to expect, I walked back out with self-confidence after such a great experience!
Tell us something about yourself that not a lot of people know.
Most of the people who’ve been following me on Instagram for a while now know where I’m from, but I haven’t always been so confident and open. I used to be painfully shy, to the point of wanting to be invisible. I struggled with an eating disorder for years… but now, here I am with so many followers, daring to share so much of myself and feeling better in my skin than ever before. Sometimes it feels bizarre to think about the past, but I’m very happy to be where I am today!
What makes you really happy?
Hmmm, that’s a tough one; a lot of things make me really happy! But before anything else, I’m a real foodie, so good food makes me really happy. It doesn’t even have to be special, just whatever I’m craving at the moment, like a crispy fresh salad, pizza or ice cream, it doesn’t really matter! The sun and good weather are also things that make me very happy. A little sunshine perks me up no end, instant mood-booster. And, of course, a good workout, the feeling I get when I walk out of the gym after training is just amazing and I wouldn’t trade it for all the money in the world.
Your favourite place besides the gym?
A festival, out in the sun, with my friends and good music. Love it. Oh, or sipping a cocktail on a tropical beach, but alas, my bank account can’t afford such splurges all that often.
What is your favourite post-workout snack?
A delicious vegan protein bar or soy curd cheese with some fruit and muesli.
How do you keep your life in balance?
Geeze, it took me a while to find that balance, I was too strict on myself. But now, I’m living in the moment, following my heart. I don’t have a schedule and I don’t count calories. I just try to have a good workout and eat healthy during the week so I can eat whatever I want on the weekends. But I don’t have any hard and fast rules. Sometimes I mix it up: eat unhealthy during the week and healthy on the weekends. It’s about the big picture, really. I’m not too strict about it and don’t deny myself if I fancy a treat. I just use common sense and try to listen to my body. That works just fine for me!
