4 tips to stay in shape during the Christmas holidays
Christmas is all about having fun and that goes hand in hand with (lots) of delicious food and drinks. But what if you are doing really well with going to the gym and achieving your dream body? Don’t panic! Here are 4 tips which will help you to stay in shape over the Christmas period. Are you interested?
- Go workout
If you exercise more, you burn more calories and that of course means that you can eat more to maintain your weight (YAY!). Remember though that gyms are usually closed over Christmas. Instead, go for a run, join an outdoor bootcamp or watch my 7 home exercises here.
- It’s all about balance
Have you got a Christmas dinner planned? Yummy! Save up calories by consuming less during the day (by eating less) so that you can enjoy a stress-free dinner. This means that you will not go over your daily calorie allowance.
- Drink less alcohol
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a good glass of wine and you don’t have to say no to a glass of champagne on New Year’s Eve, but just be careful. If you drink more alcohol, you don’t only consume more calories, you also feel the need to snack. What a shame! My advice: do you enjoy a drink? Then make sure you don’t eat too much. Do you love delicious food? Then don’t drink too much when you are eating. Want to enjoy both? Then find a balance. Easy!
- Don’t feel guilty
Prevention is better than cure but don’t feel guilty if you have one too many to drink or lick the cheese fondue pot clean. That’s part of Christmas. After all, Christmas is all about enjoying the company of family and friends. Try to work harder on your goals in the days following Christmas by exercising more and watching what you eat.
Last but not least: enjoy!
