Building a bra: this is how a bra is designed!
Thanks to the invention of the bra in 1907, we women have enjoyed feeling fully comfortable wearing our clothes for quite a while. A beautiful bralette or bra has become a must-have; we can’t live without one! Bras have become a part of our outfit and we like to buy them in all kinds of colours and prints. But how are these items actually designed? No worries, we’re giving you a peek behind the curtains!
Step 1. Trends and fabrics
The design of a bra begins with the making of a mood board. This shows the trends, colours and types of fabric like lace that are to be used for the bra. The process begins 12 months before the bra is actually available in shops. We don’t follow trends, we set the trends😊.
Step 2. Choosing a model
A model is chosen once the style of the bra is decided. Balconette, Maximizer, Bralette, wireless bras: there’s just too many to list! One design is often used for various models. Everyone should feel comfortable in our bras!
Step 3. Testing the design
Once the bra design is ready, the longest part of the process begins. The design is tested many times to see whether the lace is beautiful, the colour works well, but most importantly, how it fits.
Step 4. Adjustments
This is the last phase before the bra appears in the shops. Any issues that arose during the test phase and need adjustment are now dealt with. Then the bra is tested again until it is exactly how we want it.
Have all the steps passed the tests? Then the bra is ready to be made in large numbers and appear in the shops. We love new bras!
